A Lesson in Life From A Fish

By: Jeff Lorenz

Sara Button has recently written a story, Black Bear, Loon & Walleye: A Fable from the Northwoods. As Directors of Swift Nature Camp an Environmental Summer Camp in the Northwoods of Wisconsin, this story holds a special place in our hearts. It is such a good story we put a copy in our camp library for all our staff to share with their children.

the story tels of three friends--Black Bear, Loon & Walleye, one furry, one feathered, one sporting fish scales--and each wishes for the gifts of another. As you can imagine ech wish for the others coat. Black Bear longs for shiny scales to look flashy and impress his friends; Loon wants to sport and enviable fur coat; and Walleye wants to fly. But when their wishes mysteriously come true, each realizes a disadvantage: Bear's scales can't keep him warm, Loon can't fly with fur weighing her down, and Walleye has bad eyesight and is no good at flying even with feathers.

Black Bear, Loon and Walleye take a wild adventure that teaches them lessons that are timeless universal truths. The friends learned a valuable lesson that day, to appreciate each others gifts, but most of all to value their own. Trying new things is important, because you might find something that you really enjoy. But if it doesn't work out, you still get to know yourself better. So each characters learned that they each have special gifts and that they need to always appreciate the others gifts, while valuing their own.

This is a story for all generations and a reminder of the importance of trying new things, understanding our own true nature, and having faith that we are all perfectly designed to fulfill our own unique purposes in life. Know yourself well! Value your gifts!

At our summer camp a wonderful opportunity arises to promote each child's personal development by providing fun, friendship and leadership in a supportive and noncompetitive environment away from the daily life of a child's home. Camp provides children an opportunity to act on their own, be self-reliant and try things for themselves, always knowing that if it doesn't work out they can start over with little consequences after all it's camp. This is like the books' stars Black Bear, Loon and Walleye.

Ech night as our camp counselors read stories to the children a familiar call is heard in the background. As the loon calls it brings this story to life and makes it a special evening. If coming to the Northwoods is not as easy for you use the CD that comes with the book has loon sounds along with a guitar and the story read aloud.

No Child Left Inside in Wisconsin

By: J.J. Lorenz

The information was supplied by EE IN WISCONSIN, A guide to Wisconsin's environmental education organizations, programs, materials, and professionals

The Wisconsin No Child Left Inside Coalition is working to develop an Environmental Literacy Plan for Wisconsin that will address the environmental education needs of Wisconsin's pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade schools and will pay special attention to creating more opportunities to get kids outside. The Plan will recommend a comprehensive strategy to ensure every child graduates with the environmental skills and knowledge needed to contribute to a sustainable future.

Wisconsin has a strong environmental education foundation already established, with active schools, supporting organizations, and abundant opportunities to get outside in rural and urban settings. The Environmental Literacy Plan will build upon these strengths, and suggest priorities for present and future attention. It will lay out the next steps towards fulfilling on our State's commitment to ensure all people in Wisconsin are environmentally literate.

State Superintendent Evers has formally asked the Coalition to develop the Environmental Literacy Plan for Wisconsin. A Steering Committee meets each month to draft the Plan. The Wisconsin No Child Left Inside Coalition Steering Committee is made up of representatives from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, Wisconsin Center for Environmental Education, Wisconsin Environmental Education Board, Wisconsin Environmental Education Foundation, Wisconsin Association for Environmental Education, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Wisconsin Environmental Science Teachers Network, Milwaukee Public Schools, the Green Charter School Network, and the US EPA's Environmental Educationand Training Partnership. The broader Coalition is kept updated on progress, provides input and feedback to guidethe plan development, and ultimately, willplay a key role in implementing and evaluating Wisconsin's Environmental Literacy Plan.

Wisconsin's Environmental Literacy Plan will be compliant with the pending national No Child Left Inside (NCLI) legislation. The No Child Left Inside Act requires States develop, implement, and evaluate a State Environmental Literacy Plan in order to be eligible to receive funding associated with the Act. Currently, the bill suggests an appropriation of $100 million to support the State Environmental Literacy Plans. You can learn more about the national NCLI Act and its various provisions and requirements here: www.cbf.org/Page.aspx?pid=948.

Finding a eReader to relate to

By: Ken Webber

So youve finally decided to go through with it and buy an eReader! Well that's great, but just like every other electronic there's competition. But just like every competition there are the brands that come out on top. So in today's article we will be finding an eReader for you from the selection of the Sony PRS series, the Nook and Barnes and Nobles Nook

Some might hesitate to buy the Nook since its release with buggy firmware, but the release of firmware 1.2 should put a smile on your face. But to buy the Nook over the Kindle I would have to have a Barnes & Noble near by just so I could take full advantage of in store deals.

Do you hike? Find yourself on the bus most of the time you read, or simply dont have much time to sit down and read? Then the PRS-300 is the reader for you. With its pocket-fitting design it makes mobile reading even better, although limits your display size and memory, as the PRS-505 is larger, with more memory and a larger display, the PRS-505 is maybe best for someone that does their reading at home. Sony is also more adjustable to your needs as all of their devices come in 1 of 3 colors, blue, red, and a light gray. If page number display is something you would like (just like every reader would), then a Sony again is the way to go, Kindle needs to do something about that!

If your one of those people who always has to be on the internet, then I guess I would say the Kindle just because of its coverage, and how cheap it is(FREE!!). But if youre looking to buy a device for browsing the web, look for something similar to the iPad, however; maybe not the iPad itself. Yet to try the new Sony device I cant say much about it.

What about touch screens? Again as technology advances our need for touch screens seems to go on the up rise, I myself will admit I do enjoy them and they make good use of navigating etc, but the added blur to the words, and finger prints arent what I'm looking for. So you should ask yourself if touch screens are really an advantage to eReaders. But if the touch screen is what you need, then go with the Sony PRS-600 series, the best of the eReaders with touch screens.

By: Krunal Dave

You have seen a decorator at your local food store and think "I can do that as well or better than she does. " you generally like to have a look at books for new cake ideas and new decorating ideas.

You might also find out if there are any culinary varsities in your area to establish if they offer cake decorating tips for adults to take while not being forced to enter as a full time student.

Some of the standard classes include creative jello, creative confections, figure piping and fondant modeling, gum paste, isomalt design, rolled fondant and sugar creativeness. There's a significant number of three day, one day and three hour workshops for the optimistic cake decorator.

The three day workshop that runs from 9 to 4 daily has a registration charge of $75 and a course charge of $525. One day workshops have a registration charge of $25 and a course charge of $100. One of the 3 hour workshops goes over the best way to start a cake business.

Understanding that there's really such a massive range of classes available for cake decorating you should be capable of finding a class which should give you some systems that you can use in your own personal baking or perhaps for your cake business. If you are ever traveling in the Chicago area you have to check the workshop schedule and see if you can add a class to your travel schedule.

Door Closers - Secure Your Garage From Roobers

By: Krunal Dave

Burglaries and break-ins are far more common than you might imagine. Robberies , make up just over three-quarters of all crime inside the U. S. . Most home robberies occur in the day between six am and six pm, when families and house owners are away at work or college. A robbery happens about each fifteen or so seconds. These statistical data do not look pretty and they actually are not reassuring. Many folks take the security of their garages for granted. The plain fact of the affair is that your house security should encompass all of your place. The garage is basically a fave target for thieves. Garages, not only offer up lots of goodies ,eg automobiles, bikes, tools and more, there are often straightforward to get into.

They also provide an ideal break-in point as burglars can remain out of clear sight, hiding behind boxes or vehicles. As many folks can avow, their garages are not the most orderly places in their houses.they're typically stuffed with debris and junk, which make it even simpler for your burglar to get access unobserved. Also, the garage isn't typically occupied, particularly at night. Keeping your garage secured is a critical part of any home security routine. Once a burglar gets within your garage, they have simple access to the remainder of your house.

Your house security is only as powerful as your weakest link, so keep these tips under consideration. Electrical garage doors are tough to force open as they customarily come provided with protecting measures like an electrical mixture. if you do not change the garage mix from that of the manufacturer's setting, it is really easy for a burglar to get access. Your garage door, as with anything more, is afflicted with damage over a period. Ensure that it is secure and that burglars can't simply pry the door open. Look for any structural damage that would make the door straightforward to damage.

This is definitely a major home risk to security. By doing this, you are really advertising your products. A thief can simply slip in and take whatever she pleases within a matter of mins. Houses with home defense systems are less bound to be centered than those without.
